Reverend Christopher Conti, MD, has been a practicing physician for over two decades. He has a very diverse background and has worked in a wide variety of settings including hospitals, emergency rooms, and community health clinics. He served as Chief Medical Officer for Primary Care Health Services, Inc., the largest Federally Qualified Health Center in Pittsburgh, which hosts nine specific sites and an additional two sites that are partnered with Healthcare for the Homeless and dedicated to the homeless population in Pittsburgh. He has additional specialized training in sports and concussion medicine and has been a Team Physician for the U.S. Soccer Federation since 2018. Most recently, Dr. Conti became a designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) for the Federal Aviation Administration where he certifies the health and fitness of pilots and air traffic controllers.
In this new role as Chief Medical Officer and National Medical Director with SMART, Dr. Conti will be a key advisor to Melanie Ginn, CEO, and a member of the senior executive team. He will be engaged in building on the institutional knowledge, experiences, and expansion of the overall business strategy, efficacy, and direction of SMART Student Health Centers. This dual role will entail him being a SMART Collaborating Physician as well as being hands-on as a SMART Provider.
He will lead the overall clinical vision for our organization, in fidelity to SMART fundamentals and imperatives, and provide clinical direction to all other elements of all SMART Center practice locations. He will provide medical oversight, expertise, and leadership to ensure the delivery of the most efficacious, high impact, population-centered, cost-effective, integrative health care services that are consistent with the established evidence-based standards of the innovative SMART Model.
Dr. Conti received his Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Howard University and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Following his medical residency in 2001, Dr. Conti served in the United States Air Force for Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom as part of the Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT), which transported wounded soldiers and civilians from the combat theater into hospitals. He is currently a Doctor of Philosophy Candidate at Newburgh Theological Seminary.
